I bet the title got you going… I forgot to include the word “BAKING” before the word virgin. 😀
This afternoon, I finally jumped the gun and tried my hand in baking SOMETHING. And I wanted to try something very easy and simple – since this is my first time after all. I have a tasty and healthy chocolate cookie recipe that I dare not try yet – because I wanted to try something simple first.
A few weeks ago, I was at the TRAC home show and bought myself a packet of Blueberry scone mix from Papa Ray’s MarketPlace booth.
To all baking aficionados that I see both on Facebook and Pinterest, I don’t know how you freakin’ do it. Making all pretty, even while you bake. My dear Tony was snickering as he saw me prepping, seeing the look on my face as I read the recipe label behind the packet.
“Why don’t you just buy something already baked? hahahaha.”
Words of encouragement, my husband has. 😀 😀 😀
All I needed was 1/3 cup of milk and 1/3 cup of plain yoghurt and some butter. And my work began.
And I mixed the crumbly butter, the milk, yoghurt and the blueberry scone mix all in a bowl… And tried my best to make a big dough ball. The recipe said that I should add more milk if the dough ball is too dry and to add some flour – if it was too sticky.
To tell you the truth, I don’t know what the heck how too soft or too dry feels. I am definitely out of my comfort zone.
So, I did what I can and made the best 9-inch flat circle with my awful looking dough ball. Placed it flat on the baking pan. Did my best to cut cut it into 8 pieces, like a pizza pie.
Brushed the top with some melted butter and sprinkled brown sugar on top. And popped it in the oven preheated to 375ºF. Waited 16minutes, until there was some semblance of golden brown on top. And prayed that it was baked enough to be edible.
And thank goodness it was! Tony and Sky liked it enough to have it for a Sunday snack this afternoon.
That to me, is a success! Until my next baking adventure… 🙂
